Background
Due to the Public Health risks that may be present within High Risk Manufactured Water Systems (Cooling Towers & Warm Water Systems) their operations are regulated by the South Australian Public Health (Legionella) Regulations 2013 within the South Australian Public Health Act 2011
Responsibility for ensuring correct operation of these units is delegated to the local authority (Council) for the area which they are located.
Each system must be registered with their corresponding local authority every 12 months, and operate in accordance with the requirements outlined within the regulations and associated Australian Standard, being:
Air-Handling and water systems in buildings - Microbial Control
AS3666.1:2011 - Part 1 Design, installation and commissioning
and
AS3666.2:2011 - Part 2: Operation and maintenance
or
AS3666.3:2011 - Part 3: Performance based maintenance of cooling water systems
Where we fit
Under the regulations each High Risk Manufactured Water System must be inspected at least once every 12 months by either the local authority or competent third party auditor to asses that the ongoing operation of the system meets the requirements outlined in the regulations and Australian Standards.
Part of this assessment requires at least 1 water sample be collected per system (2 for warm water systems) and analyzed for the presence of legionella.
We can assist your business by completing this assessment when required by the local authority.
As part of our service we will collect any required water sample(s) and provide an electronic report addressing all the required items under the legislation and standards.
A copy of this report will also be provided to your local authority to ensure you meet your requirements under section 15 of the regulations.
In the event that a positive legionella detection does result from a sample we will help guide your business through the next steps, as different counts can result in different required actions.
We will also provide general risk assessment advice when onsite if any factors are observed that may potentially increase the risk of legionella propagation or reduce the effectiveness of the onsite water treatment regime.
We will invoice you for the service only once the report has been completed and provided to yourself and the local authority.
Our fee schedule allows for dynamic pricing when there are multiple systems and/or towers located on the same facility to help give you the best outcome.
